These school holidays, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and Shoppe on Langley Park will entertain the kids through a weeklong series of playful puppetry theatre workshops introducing children to the world of puppetry and encouraging their curiosity and imagination.
This is a daily event series that features four different workshops aimed at different age groups: from 3 to 14 years old. This is a great opportunity for kids and adults to enjoy the magic of puppetry together.
Sessions:
Hand Puppets: During this workshop, kids make their own hand puppets from scratch using fabric, stuffing and other decorations. This workshop’s difficulty can be adapted for age and skill level.
Puppet Playtime: Puppet Playtime is an interactive experience specially crafted for children aged 3 to 7 years old. Designed to nurture their creativity and love for storytelling, each session brings a beloved children’s book to life through the art of puppetry.
Performing with Puppets: Spare Parts Puppet Theatre's talented puppeteers will teach students to use different puppetry styles in storytelling and performance, including hand puppets, marionettes and body puppets.
Puppet Lab: In this innovative workshop, young creators combine puppetry, storytelling, and new digital technologies. Using a custom-built iPad app, students design and control their digital puppets through state-of-the-art hand-tracking technology, unlocking endless storytelling possibilities that connect their puppet creations with the world around them.
