TIME • RONE After Dark

For the first time, acclaimed street artist Rone will exhibit at The Art Gallery of Western Australia in the historical Centenary Galleries in a fully immersive ticketed public exhibition.

TIME • RONE is an immersive art exhibition that breathes life into a lost era of Australian history. The exhibition is now showing, taking over 12 rooms, on both floors, of the historic Centenary Galleries building, each hosting immersive installations with visuals supported by a soundscape, created by composer Nick Batterham.

A multi-sensory installation excavating meaning from the everyday, TIME projects onto a grand scale the lifelong search for beauty in decay. Experience the historic Centenary Galleries like never before, as you walk, breathe, and live among remnants of mid-century Australia. Like all things, TIME is impermanent. But for a season, it invites you to exist in the same moment.

After Dark: From 5pm Wednesday - Saturday
Audiences can experience this haunting and iconic installation through a different lens, after AGWA closes, from Wednesday through to Saturday for a limited season.

Desperate Measures

Desperate Measures

This exhibition presents artworks from the City of Fremantle Art and Civic Collections as well as photographs, posters and T-shirts borrowed from the local community, to explore the artists, performers and activists that lit up Freo in the period 1977-1985.

The exhibition charts the cultural shift that occurred in Fremantle after 1975, when the city was an affordable place to live, attracting a unique mix of students, artists, performers and activists; creating a vibrant community that engaged with wider political issues. The legacy of this artistic community continues to be felt across WA and Australia.

“Freo was a place where young people with dynamic energy dreamed up ideas and then executed them. We were unconstrained and very open to anyone who came along and wanted to join in” – Micko O’Byrne 2024
